It has been a hectic start to the season, with Puesto Viejo Polo Club teams playing in two AAP tournaments in 2 weeks, and with Club President Jeremy Baker setting a great example by playing 13 chukkas in one day!
Puesto Viejo entered 2 teams into the AAP’s COPA INICIACION and a further team into the AAP’s CAMPEONATOS METROPOLITANAS.
Running from 10th September to 2nd October, Puesto Viejo Polo Club entered PUESTO VIEJO into the Open and PUESTO VIEJO CANUELAS into the Handicap.
Puesto Viejo Canuelas, consisting of Andres Gabriel Garcia (0), Juan Manuel Deramo (1), Hernan Dotzel (0) and headed up by Ignacio Brunetti (2), made a strong start, playing a great game and beating the other Puesto Viejo team 6:4.
The Puesto Viejo 6 goal team consisting of Jose Manuel Cane Guiraldes (1), Jeremy Baker (0), Facundo Llosa Cruz (2) and headed up by Julio Casares (3) suffered further defeat in their next game, where they were beaten 8:6 by La Dolfina.
Unfortunately, Puesto Viejo Canuelas luck was not to last. In the last game on Saturday 10th , a very close match, saw the eventual defeat of the team against La Union with a score of 9:8.
On the same day, across on Cancha 3, Puesto Viejo Polo Club had another PV team playing in the first round of the 14 goal tournament, Campeonatos Metropolitanas.
The 14 goal team consisting of Alfredo Bigatti (5), Contancio Caset (5), Jeremy Baker (0) and headed up by Lucas Torales (4) played Araucaria and won 11:8
Further success came the following weekend when on Sunday 18th September, they played Las Praderas and won 11:10 in supplementary.
Having made it through to the Quarter Finals, the Puesto Viejo team were sadly knocked out on Tuesday 20th playing against San Diego Kokis. It was a well fought match though, with the added rivalry of PV member Federico Teves being on the opposing team!
